Beautiful Monet Artwork!

We were exploring Winter scenes by Claude Monet in Art this week. We used Monet's artwork 'The Magpie' as the inspiration for our pictures. We used pastels to create our art instead of oils. Have a look at some of the super work created below! We have fantastic artists in 3rd and 4th class!

Happy Halloween!

Things have become pretty spooky here in 3rd and 4th class. We have made some Haunting Halloween Handprint Bats, we have created some Harrowing Halloween Acronyms and some Spooky Chalk Skeletons. We also had a fantastic day dressing up for our Spooky Walk!

P.E in 3rd & 4th class

3rd & 4th class have been very busy practising their hockey skills in The Oak Centre.

Aqua Dragons!

3rd and 4th class have been very busy setting up their Aqua Dragon Aquarium. They needed to fill the tank with the correct amount of water, then the eggs and then finally food! The eggs will hatch in 2 days. We are looking at Aqua Dragons as part of our study of Living things in Science.

3rd & 4th class made their own Scarecrows after examining life on farms in Geography and Harvest in Religion. Have a look below at their creations! They are fabulous!

3rd and 4th class made Ancient Egyptian sarcophagus death masks made with fabric, fibre and colour during Art as part of their exploration of this period in History.

4th class followed a written instruction guide based on lines and angles to construct 2-D straw buildings as part of their Maths lesson

4th class used their iPads to search for perpendicular, parallel and oblique lines inside and outside the classroom.

3rd and 4th Class reached 250 Dojo points and voted for a Pyjama Party as a reward this October!

Welcome to the 3rd and 4th Class Blog!

3rd and 4th Class have been super busy since September. You wouldn't believe the things that we've been up to! Have a look at some of our fantastic work below.... from Ancient Rome to the Antarctica, to maths week and science experiments....we've had a great time learning new and exciting things.

We've been reading 'Survivor - Titanic' by Stephen Davies and really enjoyed it. It was so exciting with many cliffhangers that we couldn't contain our excitement!! We made some really cool Titanic Models, they were superb! We had to create fact sheets and present them to the class along with our 3D models. Take a look for yourself!!!

We also have been exploring the Bogs of Ireland and learning lots of interesting facts. We even made our own bogs!!!

As part of a project entitled: 'When my grandparents were young' we learned we have family ancestors of Cearbhall O Dálaigh - The 5th Irish President. For this reason we got an exclusive visit to Arás an Uachtarán and met President Michael D. Higgins! We had a lovely lunch in Arás and an informative tour of the grounds. Here are some pictures...
