We had another visit from Eugene on Friday. Following on from last week's theme of symbols, this week Eugene spoke about the poppy which is the symbol used for Remembrance Sunday which is also this week. He explained how poppies became a symbol for all those who lost their lives in the 'Great War' (World War 1) as they grew in many fields across Europe where battles were fought. Not only do we remember the 58,000 Irish who died during the Great War, we also remember the civilians in all countries that were involved in the conflict, particularly in World War 1 and World War 2.
We also had some new Stars of the Week, congratulations to them!
