We have enjoyed another great week here in St. Peter's NS. As always our weekly assembly is a lovely way for the school to come together and celebrate the week gone by.

This week it was Junior and Senior Infant's turn to stand up and show everyone what they had been learning about in class. Although they were a little bit nervous at first, they were absolutely super! 4 weeks into school and they are already superstars!
It was fantastic to see them sing their song, all about our 5 different senses and what they do. We need sight to see the sun, our ears to hear the ding, ding, ding, our touch to cuddle our teddies, taste to enjoy delicious treats and our smell to smell the lovely flowers!
They didn't stop there though - and sang another song As Gaeilge! Everyone did such a fantastic job and they got a big clap from the whole school. They were brilliant!

Junior and Senior Infants weren't the only ones to get up and speak to our assembly for the first time, as today Alison, our new curate, did her first full assembly for us and she was brilliant!
Alison spoke to us all about 'salt'. She explained that salt is used to fix colours into fabric, to make plastic, and to help to turn animal skin into leather for belts and even for sofas! Alison explained that we all have 'salt' in us, that we all have our own unique flavour and therefore we all can be a good influence on those around us and add our own 'flavour' to the world.
It was brilliant to have Alison with us this week and we look forward to many more Friday mornings with her!

Our singing in Assembly is quickly becoming one of the highlights of the school week. This week we all got up on our feet and sang one of our favourite songs 'We Our Marching!' It certainly gave me that Friday feeling!!

Wishing you all a great weekend,

Ms Blennerhassett

Hi everyone!

We have had the most wonderful week in school this week. All the children have been super!

Last week in Assembly, 5th and 6th class read poems to us about bullying. The poems spoke about how bullying can make us feel. We talked about what it means to be a good friend and how to be a good friend to everyone. We reminded ourselves that it is always a good decision to ‘choose to be kind’. In St. Peter’s NS playground it is wonderful to see the power ‘choosing to be kind’ has on everyone, with lots of smiles and happy faces everywhere.

In this week’s Assembly 1st and 2nd class continued to talk about friendship. They sang us a wonderful song ‘You’ve got a friend in me’, from one of my favourite films ‘Toy Story!’ They were absolutely fantastic and did a super job!

Rev. Eugene was also in Assembly this morning and he spoke to us all about peace, as today is International Peace Day. He explained that peace can mean ‘quiet’ or ‘calm’ or even a ‘nice cuppa tea!’ The UN founded International Peace Day in 1981, to help foster peace between peoples and nations. Eugene reminded us that just like the Tesco slogan ‘every little helps’ we all matter and count towards making the world a happy and peaceful place.

Assembly was also very exciting this week as we heard all about the silver medallists in the World Equestrian Games, in North Carolina. A Mum in our school was a member of the team! A big ‘Congratulations’ to everyone involved! This is fantastic news! We heard all about ‘Rocket’ the horse who is described to be ‘Rocket by name, Rocket by nature!’

Wishing you all a very happy and peaceful weekend.
