We held our Europe Day celebrations in the Oak Centre on Friday the 25th of May. We were joined by MEP Luke 'Ming' Flanagan and Councillor Maria Murphy on the day.The children showcased their projects, models and even baked some treats to share with the school community. The children worked extremely hard on their projects and we want to say a big thank you to all the children and their families for making the day such a success.
MEP Mairead McGuinness visits our school!
We had a lovely visit from MEP Mairead McGuinness this week. Mairead gave a lively and informative talk to the children in 3rd - 6th class. Mairead chaired a debate on social media, we discussed the impact of Brexit on Europe and found out about the work of a MEP in Europe. Mairead was impressed with how much the children knew about the European Union and the level of work that had gone into the projects and models, some of which were on display in the Sensory Room.
Visit from the French Ambassador
On Tuesday the 24th of March, our school received a visit from a VIP! France's Ambassador to Ireland, Monsieur Stéphane Crouzat. Ambassador Crouzat spoke to 3rd - 6th Classes about France's role in the European Union as well as life in France. We took part in the 'Handshake for Europe' which symbolizes unity within Europe. The Ambassador also kindly donated some French books for our school. Merci beaucoup, Monseiur crouzat!
5th & 6th Class enjoyed an informative visit to the European Commission.
