Matthew from Bank of Ireland was extremely impressed by the business savvy pupils in 4th -6th Class. Matthews runs the Biz World programme which operates in a style similar to Dragon's Den. The pupils collaborated in groups to come up with a business idea, create a company, develop a marketing strategy and finally pitch their business idea to prospective investors. Judging from the excellent work produced over the two days, we have some future entrepreneurs in St. Peter's NS!
We are studying all about life in China, past and present. We created digital research projects on China with a partner and presented them to the whole class. To celebrate the Chinese New Year we created Chinese Banners saying 'Happy New Year' and held a Chinese themed party. We ate Chinese food and listened to traditional Chinese music. Big thank you to the parents that sent in noodles, fortune cookies and cupcakes decorated with the Chinese flag. What a treat!!
4th, 5th & 6th Class earned their Ball Jar treat through combined effort. Acts of kindness, collaborative work and setting an example for younger classes all contributed to filling the ball jar. Each pupil put forward their suggestion for the treat and then we voted on the suggestions. The most popular choice was a pyjama and hot chocolate party! Massive thank you to the parents that sent in baked goods, treats and a GIANT tub of hot chocolate! We feasted like kings then burned it all off with an EPIC pillow fight!!
We learned all about Irish aid efforts in South Sudan in a wholly immersive workshop delivered by Mura Tierney from GOAL. |
