We had a very exciting special delivery in 2nd and 3rd class last Tuesday. A mysterious box appeared in the classroom along with all of our Christmas decoration being hung up!
We cannot wait to find out what is in the box on December 1st! I wonder what is inside? Children made predictions about the contents of the box. Come back soon to see them!
W have been learning about Symmetry in Maths this week. Symmetry is a mirror image of something. Something is symmetrical if you can fold it in half and the shape and pictures line up the exact same. We explored lines of symmetry on shapes and created some symmetrical decorations.
Another year, another Maths Week! The children did a combination of Maths games and activities in their groups. We also watched some broadcasts from the Maths Week website. We watch a video about number patterns and tables tips, and some on Maths magic tricks and puzzles. On Friday, children went on Maths trails around the yard. The children had written their own questions for the trail as part of their homework. Each child got 3-4 different sets of questions to solve. They had a great time. What a success!
Meath County Council has moved their book festival online this year. This has worked out very well for us as it means we can attend a wide variety of workshops from our classroom. The workshops are normally very hard to get places for. There are a variety of videos available from readings, writing workshops and drawing skills. We watched a few videos during the week and have a few more lined up in the coming weeks.

We have been taking part in the YOURtober Fitness Challenge by School Fitness Ireland. Each day there is a different activity so there is something for everyone. The children have enjoyed it so far. Keep an eye on this post to see what activities we complete!

Last Friday 2nd and 3rd received a very special delivery. The school had built up vouchers through the Scholastic book scheme which allowed us to purchase new books for our class. The children made suggestions about what books they would like. Thankfully we were able to get a variety of books for all readers. We got over 40 new books! The excitement from the children about the books was fantastic. The following Monday the children were excited to pick out one of the new books to read. Have a look at what we got below.
